Can Fuchsia be grown hydroponically? A detailed guide to hydroponic growing methods

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Fuchsia can be grown hydroponically. Moreover, if cared for well, it can also grow very well. When growing hydroponically, change the water frequently, and you can also add nutrient solution; pay attention to keeping the water clean and hygienic to avoid water contamination. During care, place it in a ventilated and shady spot, and make sure it gets sufficient light.

1. Whether it can be grown hydroponically

Some friends think that this plant can only be grown in soil, not in water, and they do not dare to try it. In fact, it is possible. Moreover, if cared for properly, the plant can even grow better than one grown in soil. And if it is placed in a transparent container, with the water as a backdrop and light shining on it, it looks very beautiful. Compared with soil-grown plants, it has greater ornamental appeal. However, there are also quite a few issues to pay attention to; some are unique to hydroponic growing, and some are the same as for soil growing.

2. Issues to pay attention to

(1) Changing the water

This is very important. If the water is not changed for a long time, it will become cloudy, and then the plant will not grow well. It should be changed about once a week. When the temperature is very high, it needs to be done even more often. In addition, it is best to let the water sit in the sun for a while and change it once its temperature is about the same as room temperature. Do not change it right after taking it from the tap.

(2) Nutrient solution

Hydroponically grown plants are not like soil-grown ones; they cannot draw the same nutrients from soil. Therefore, to promote the growth and development of hydroponically grown plants, using some nutrient solution as a boost is best. There are no particularly great requirements for the type; an ordinary nutrient solution bought from a store will do. You can add some while changing the water.

(3) Light

This plant loves light. Whether grown in soil or in water, light is indispensable. You can place it in a bright spot such as a balcony or windowsill. This is both good for its growth and makes it look even better.

(4) Ventilation

Just like soil-grown plants, hydroponically grown ones also need to be placed in a well-ventilated location.
