Bamboo is a plant with a rather elegant appearance. Kept at home, it can be enjoyed as a bonsai, and when used as a decorative item in the home, it is also a plant of great style. So which bamboos are actually suitable for bonsai?

1. Lotus Leaf Bamboo

Lotus Leaf Bamboo is also known by another name, Guanyin Bamboo. Because the appearance and structure of Lotus Leaf Bamboo closely resemble those of the lotus, it is also called Lotus Bamboo. The nodes of Lotus Leaf Bamboo are very dense, and some Lotus Bamboo plants have leaves only at the very top. Placed at the entrance, Lotus Leaf Bamboo has great ornamental value.

To grow Lotus Leaf Bamboo, you only need to find a shaded, warm spot, keep the temperature relatively high and the environment well ventilated.

2. Lily Bamboo

The leaves of Lily Bamboo bear stripes of yellow and green, and some are special in that they also have golden-yellow stripes. Lily Bamboo also has good ornamental value. Buy one Lily Bamboo and you can even use it as a bonsai beside your desk; it adds beauty and can also raise the style of your room.

To grow Lily Bamboo, you simply need to place it in warm, well-ventilated soil with good drainage. It is worth noting that the minimum temperature for growing it must be at least above 5°C, and you must also water Lily Bamboo regularly. This plant is generally grown in a deep pot, so if you water it too much, moisture will accumulate at the bottom and be unable to evaporate.

3. Phoenix Tail Bamboo

The places suitable for placing Phoenix Tail Bamboo are the office desk, coffee table and living room. Besides its ornamental value, Phoenix Tail Bamboo also has the value of purifying the air for us. Its branches and leaves are fairly dense, and its main stem is relatively short, which exactly meets the conditions for making a bonsai.

Phoenix Tail Bamboo likes a moist and warm environment, has poor cold tolerance, and is not suited to full strong light. When growing Phoenix Tail Bamboo, it is best to place it in fertile soil with good drainage.

4. Fishtail Bamboo

Fishtail Bamboo is a short plant, only about 20-odd cm tall. Its leaf surfaces often bear alternating white and pale yellow longitudinal stripes, which gives Fishtail Bamboo a beautiful look. Using Fishtail Bamboo as a bonsai is also a good choice to keep you company. The places where Fishtail Bamboo can be placed include the coffee table and the desk; once placed there, it makes the whole room take on a distinctive character.

Fishtail Bamboo originates from Japan, so it is fairly well adapted to a warm, moist environment. This plant is relatively cold-tolerant, so in winter you should never be afraid that you cannot keep it alive. When growing it, remember to place Fishtail Bamboo in fertile, loose soil with fairly good drainage.
