Camellia is a famous flower of our country and a favorite of many flower lovers, but there are so many camellia varieties. Today I will introduce a camellia with a very unusual flower shape, flowers unmatched by any other, extremely vivid colors and very high ornamental value, to give everyone a feast for the eyes.

Eighteen Scholars: It is a treasure among camellias, with a graceful tree shape and an unusual flower structure. It is made up of more than 70-130 petals forming a six-angled corolla, in distinct, orderly, tower-like layers, very beautiful. The petals of two adjacent angles are arranged in about 20 whorls, mostly 18 whorls, so it is called "Eighteen Scholars." It is a treasure among camellias and deeply loved by people.

Because of its graceful plant form, glossy, shiny leaves and brilliant, colorful flowers, the Eighteen Scholars camellia is favored by the horticultural world. When it blooms, a single plant can sometimes produce flowers of different colors at the same time, such as pink, red, white, white with red stripes and red with white stripes, and together with the deep green foliage, it is very beautiful and lovely.

Growing the Eighteen Scholars camellia is the same as growing other camellias. Good air circulation, a warm and humid climate, good drainage and loose, fertile sandy soil are especially suitable for growing camellias; loess or humus soil will also do. The suitable temperature is between 5-32°C; above 30°C it stops growing, and below 5°C it enters a dormant state. It is relatively cold-tolerant, and most varieties can withstand low temperatures of -8°C. Camellia is a semi-shade flower, so in summer it needs a frame for shade. After the Start of Autumn, when temperatures drop, camellia enters the flower bud differentiation stage, and the whole plant should gradually receive sufficient light. In winter it should be placed indoors in a spot with plenty of sunlight; if the indoor light is too weak, the camellia will grow poorly and is prone to pests and diseases.
