Orchids have a dignified and graceful plant form, elegant flowers, and a delicate fragrance that is not muddy. They have long been known as the gentleman among flowers. You can keep a pot at home, with fragrance filling the air and endless delight. Many flower lovers do not know how to water orchids, do not know when to water or how to judge, so today let's talk about it

1. The whole orchid looks listless, the leaves look a bit wilted and dispirited. At this time, the orchid is short of water.

2. Find a bamboo skewer and insert it down into the flower pot. After a while, pull it out and look at the dampness of the bamboo skewer. If the skewer is not damp or wet and has not brought out wet soil, it means the orchid is short of water.

3. Judge according to the condition of the orchid leaves and the dry-wet condition of the pot soil surface. If the orchid leaves show mild dehydration, the potting medium on the surface is already very dry, and after digging about 5 cm into the surface medium it is still dry, then there is already insufficient moisture inside and it should be watered.

4. Some people do not like grass growing in the flower pot, but in fact keeping a few small grasses in the pot is not completely useless. You can judge the dry-wet condition in the pot according to how the small grasses grow. If the small grasses grow normally, it means the pot is not short of water; if the small grasses wilt and cannot perk up again, it means the pot is short of water.

Orchid watering methods

The watering methods for orchids include pouring, sprinkling, soaking and spraying.

Pouring: water around the flower pot in a circle and let it slowly seep in. Never pour water into the leaf center of the orchid. If it does not evaporate in time, it will cause the orchid's heart to rot and harm the plant

Sprinkling: use a spray bottle to wet the entire orchid-growing environment, letting water seep from the soil surface to the orchid roots. With this method, water easily splashes into the leaf center, so use it carefully, otherwise the heart will rot.

Soaking: soak the orchid's flower pot in a basin filled with water, water thoroughly, and keep water in the tray for about half an hour. This allows the potting medium to fully absorb water and absorb it evenly, but it also has disadvantages. Soaking the pot back and forth is not easy to operate, and it easily spreads pathogens, and it also easily causes root rot due to poor ventilation. Pouring, sprinkling and soaking, these three methods can be used alternately and in combination, and the effect is also quite good

Spraying: use a sprayer to spray out fine mist directly onto the orchid plant and nearby areas to increase air humidity and keep the orchid in a suitable environment
