Amaryllis, also known as duihong, has many varieties. Its appearance is very similar to a lily, but it is in no way inferior to a lily. Its colors are very bright and beautiful, making it an ideal potted plant for decorating the home!

Look at the amaryllis grown by a gardening expert. Because the amaryllis had not bloomed, it was given major surgery, cut up like an onion. At first, it was thought that this amaryllis would surely die, but unexpectedly, two months later, small bulbs actually grew. It looks like dozens can be propagated. It is truly astonishing!

Take the amaryllis out of the soil, peel off the old outer skin, cut it open like an onion, then disinfect it with alcohol and put it into a black plastic bag. Growing side bulbs is very slow, so do not rush and wait patiently.

After about two months, a particularly small bulb will grow. At this time, do not pot it yet. Wait until some roots have grown and the bulb has grown a bit larger, then pot it. If a small bulb grows on every leaf, then several hundred bulbs can be propagated at once, and after that there will be several hundred amaryllis plants!

This is the first time I have heard of this method, but gardening friends should still not casually use their own amaryllis to experiment! After all, there is risk!

Daily care

Place the amaryllis in a place with plenty of sunlight. Sufficient light helps it send up scapes and bloom. For the soil, choose a loose, breathable one with good drainage. When potting, add a small amount of organic base fertilizer, which can make the flowers large and brightly colored!

After each bloom fades, cut off the spent flowers promptly to encourage a second bloom, and apply a nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer once every 15 days to help it recover growth more quickly!

When watering the amaryllis, water only after the soil is found to be dry. Do not water too frequently, as this can easily cause the bulb to rot. If it accidentally rots, scrape off the rotted part, disinfect it with carbendazim, and replant it in the soil.
