Pilea peperomioides, very much like a mirror from ancient times, also known as money plant, with round leaves that look exactly like pennywort if you do not look closely, very fresh and beautiful. How do you grow Pilea peperomioides so it thrives?

1. Actually it differs quite a lot from pennywort. Pennywort likes a warm environment, while Pilea peperomioides is relatively cold-tolerant - anything above zero degrees is fine - and it prefers a cool, shady environment.

2. The ideal growing temperature for Pilea peperomioides is around 15 degrees. Do not expose it to strong light normally, otherwise the leaves will curl. As long as it is not in full sun, indirect light is enough. In summer it needs appropriate shading.

3. It is suitable to grow it in leaf mold soil, plus peat, a small amount of river sand, coal ash, and some base fertilizer. If you cannot find soil, you can use humus soil from under large trees on the mountain.

4. Watering needs to be timely. During the spring and autumn growing seasons, water frequently to keep the soil moist, or keep spraying water on the leaves to maintain a moist environment and increase air humidity.

5. It is a perennial herbaceous plant, meaning that if you grow it this year it will keep growing next year, and it is quite easy to keep alive. Propagation is very simple.

In spring, the plant will grow some side shoots with adventitious roots. Just leave four leaves, cut them off together with the adventitious roots, and then plant them in moist potting soil, and they will take root and sprout in just over ten days.

Or select healthy branches, cut them off, and insert them into a flower pot, and they will also easily grow roots and survive.

6. Spraying it with a little monopotassium phosphate from time to time to supplement phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, or organic fertilizer liquid, will make its branches grow sturdy and its leaves a vivid green and lush.

7. When it is relatively cold in winter, you can keep it inside a balcony or indoors; below five degrees will affect its growth. If placed in a warm spot it can keep growing, with many green lush leaves, very beautiful.
