How to care for Clivia miniata leaves so they stay green and glossy
1. Variety
We believe the plant's upright stance should be good, so short-leaf genetics are needed, and round-head plus technician genetics are also essential, but we know that pure short-leaf technician and round-head are not many nowadays, so we still need short-branch, short-round and the like as base clivia. Only in this way can it grow very well.
2. Care
①. Watering
Watering is relatively easy; no matter when, we just wait until the surface of the potting soil is dry for one cm, then we need to water it. Do not use water casually; settled tap water is better.
② Fertilizing
Fertilizing is necessary, and the elements in it must be balanced. Many times the plants we see are too wide and not green enough, and a big reason is improper fertilizing. If we use charcoal as potassium fertilizer, we can use degreased bone meal as phosphorus fertilizer; this way it will not burn the roots, and it will also be more balanced, making the plant grow lushly green. As for nitrogen fertilizer, there are three ways to apply it: first, solid base fertilizer; second, liquid water-soluble fertilizer; third, foliar fertilizer. What is usually done is burying base fertilizer and watering with fertilizer; the latter method can be said to be better than the former. As for the ratio, everyone should still follow the principle of not burning the roots, and less is always better than more. And it should be fertilized in every season, once every half month; this way the leaves will grow more steadily and look better.
③ Disease prevention
The main diseases of this plant include pests and fungi. We had best use prevention as the main method; each time just add some agents to the fertilizer water to prevent them, or use a brush to treat it. This way its leaves can avoid damage and grow both green and glossy.
