Grow potted Christmas cactus patiently, and when it blooms, the bright red flowers are a beautiful sight. Below are the key cultivation points for Christmas cactus.

Christmas cactus cultivation tips:

(1). If you want the Christmas cactus to bloom abundantly with vivid colors, fertilize promptly after the midsummer dormant period with a 1:1:1 compound fertilizer. You can spray the leaves with a potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution.

(2). Sufficient soil nutrients favor the growth and blooming of Christmas cactus. The soil is generally a fertile, loose, well-draining, slightly acidic growing medium; good drainage is absolutely necessary, because with too much watering, water accumulates in the pot and the roots rot easily.

(3). Fertilizing is very important for the Christmas cactus to bloom. From spring to summer, apply a dilute liquid fertilizer once every 10-14 days. During the high temperatures of summer, stop fertilizing, otherwise the roots will be burned. In midsummer, when growth stalls, reduce watering and spray 2-3 times a day.

(4). From the Start of Autumn to the blooming period, generally apply liquid fertilizer once every 7 days, and do not interrupt the fertilizer and water. Keep the plant in a spot with ample light to promote flower bud differentiation.

(5). In the period before the Christmas cactus blooms, apply a quick-acting phosphorus fertilizer once or twice more, and fertilize sufficiently at the same time; doing so helps form flower buds and, more importantly, makes the Christmas cactus bloom with more vivid colors.

(6). During the Christmas cactus bud stage, spray water frequently to keep the buds and flattened stems moist.
