Excerpt from the series "Three-Step Method for Growing Roses"

In the previous articles, Blue Demon introduced the method for training roses on a flower wall, and then quite a few flower enthusiasts consulted Blue Demon about how to create a rose arch.

A flower arch is different from a flower wall. To create a rose flower wall, we only need to train the rose branches horizontally or diagonally upward, but the flat surface area of an arch is small, so horizontal training cannot be done directly.

Today Blue Demon will specifically introduce the training method for a rose arch.

Training method for a rose arch:

Whether growing climbing roses to create a flower wall or a flower arch, the cultivation method is the same, and you need to protect the growth of basal shoots as much as possible.

Because the shape of a flower arch is special, if you want both the top and the lower part of the arch to be covered in flowers, you need relatively strong branches that can extend to the top of the arch.

So when choosing climbing varieties, you can choose larger climbers, such as Princess Margaret. Because the growth length of small climbers' branches is limited, to achieve the effect of a flower arch, a longer growing time is needed.

Of course, to create the effect of a flower arch more quickly, you can choose to plant large climbers and small climbers together.

Use the long branches of large climbers to train and arrange them at the top of the flower arch. The shorter branches of small climbers can be arranged in the middle and lower parts.

This makes it easier to achieve the effect. If you plant only large climbers, then you need to pay attention to the reasonable distribution of branches, and do not do it like the picture above. The training method in the picture above is to train all branches upward, and the final result is flowers on top and no flowers on the other parts.

The correct training method for a flower arch should be to pull strong branches upright to the top, while thinner branches should be coiled around or arranged in an S shape in the middle part of the arch, and the bottom should be filled with relatively thin and short branches.

Only this kind of training can make the flower arch achieve the effect of bursting into bloom all over.

How is it? Isn't it simple? If you want a rose arch, then get started and plant one. Go from envying other people's flower arches to making others envy yours!
