Introduction to the Variety Characteristics of the Snow White Cactus Succulent

Snow White is a perennial succulent plant of the genus Notocactus. The stem is spherical or slightly flattened round, about 10 cm tall, solitary, 6 to 10 cm in diameter, with small wart-like protrusions arranged in a spiral, and the body is densely covered with 3 to 5 mm radiating white spines, with pale yellow central spines. The flowers are terminal, funnel-shaped, crimson, and emerge from among the white spines, very beautiful and long-lasting to look at. A single flower can bloom for more than 2 weeks, and the continuous flowering period lasts about 3 months, making it quite ornamental. Among cultivated varieties there is also Yellow Snow, whose body is similar to Snow White, with yellow and longer spines, and yellow-green flowers that often open several at a time, making it relatively rare.
Snow White
Snow White likes a warm environment with plenty of sunlight. In spring and autumn it can be placed in a sunny spot in the courtyard, and those living in apartment buildings can place it on a windowsill or balcony. In summer it should avoid strong sunlight and be properly shaded. Normally the potting soil can be kept slightly dry. Snow White can tolerate a low temperature of 5°C, and in winter it needs to be placed indoors to overwinter; if the room temperature is kept above 5°C, the body can safely overwinter.
Snow White
Snow White can be propagated by sowing, and the seedlings grow relatively quickly. It can also be grafted using a two-ribbed stem or a flowering cactus as rootstock. The potting soil should be a well-drained and fertile sandy loam, and fertilizer and water should be applied appropriately; during the growing season, apply a dilute organic fertilizer solution once every half month, and be careful not to splash the fertilizer water onto the body and dirty the white hairs, which would harm the ornamental effect.
