Growth habits of the dwarf umbrella tree
The dwarf umbrella tree likes a warm, humid, semi-sunny environment, and its optimum growth temperature is 16-27°C. From March to September it is 21-27°C, and from September to the following March it is 16-21°C. It can still grow normally under high-temperature conditions above 30°C. In winter the temperature should not be lower than 5°C. If the temperature is below 0°C, the plant will be frozen and lose its leaves, but if the stem is intact, it will sprout new leaves again in the following spring.
The dwarf umbrella tree likes moisture and fears dryness. When air humidity is high and soil moisture is sufficient, the stems and leaves grow luxuriantly. But too much water, causing waterlogging, will lead to root rot.
The dwarf umbrella tree has a wide range of adaptability to light and can grow under full sun, half sun or semi-shade. However, when light intensity is high the leaf color is lighter, and when light is weak the leaf color is darker green. Under bright light, the colors of variegated varieties are more vivid.
A fertile, loose and well-drained sandy loam soil is suitable. For home potting soil, use a mixture of peat soil, leaf mold and coarse sand.
