Did you know figs have these other names too?
The fig is a woody plant with sweet and sour, tasty fruit. Many people like to grow it as a potted plant at home so they can enjoy the delicious fruit.

Other names for the fig
In Uyghur, the fig is called Anjir, meaning "sugar buns that grow on trees." It also has the alternate names milk-fruit, honey-fruit, and Tian Sheng Zi.
The origin of the name "fig"
The fig's flowers are not obvious; they are inside the internal ovary and do not show on the surface, which is why it is called the fig (literally "flowerless fruit"). But in fact, the fig does still have flowers.
The fig's growing habits
The fig likes a warm, humid climate. It likes light and is not cold-tolerant; at -12°C it will suffer cold damage, and any colder and it will die. The fig likes ample fertilizer and is fairly drought-tolerant, but it does not tolerate waterlogging. The fig can tolerate poor, thin soil and has fairly strong adaptability to soil, though a fertile sandy soil is best.
