Want your orchids to keep multiplying? A 10-year orchid grower teaches you how to turn one pot into ten

If you want your orchids to keep multiplying and turn one pot into ten, you need to hear the insights of a 10-year orchid grower!
Friends who love growing orchids, there are three goals in orchid growing: first, hoping to keep the orchids alive; second, hoping the orchids will bloom; third, hoping the orchids will grow new shoots and can be divided into separate pots early. But fulfilling these wishes is really not easy. Take orchid propagation, for instance - it has always been a headache for orchid enthusiasts. How can you keep your orchids multiplying and turn one pot into ten? Come and hear the insights of a 10-year orchid grower!
For orchid propagation, the more scientific approaches include vegetative propagation and sexual propagation. Vegetative propagation includes division and tissue culture, while sexual propagation refers to sowing seeds. Generally, home orchid growers use the division method, usually dividing once every two to three years, and it should be done in spring or autumn. This is because the temperature, humidity, light and other conditions orchids need at this time are all quite suitable for their growth requirements.
It is worth noting here that after dividing an orchid, each cluster should keep at least 5 connected pseudobulbs, and these pseudobulbs should have at least 3 robustly growing leaves; otherwise, do not rush to divide.
Before dividing an orchid, reduce watering to make the potting soil drier, so as to better ensure the orchid plant's moisture flows back. When taking the orchid out of the pot, promptly remove the soil from the roots, wash them clean with water, cut off dead leaves as well as rotten roots and leaves, and let it dry for two to three hours - this is what we call sunning and disinfecting the orchid roots. Wait until the orchid roots turn white and wilt, then use a knife to cut and divide between the pseudobulbs, and apply plant ash or sulfur powder to the cuts for anti-rot treatment.
