“

Japanese honeysuckle

”

Japanese honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) is cold in nature, clears heat and detoxifies, and has a fragrant aroma. It has a remarkable therapeutic effect on conditions such as sore and swollen throat caused by internal heat. The flowers are generally used as medicine; after picking, the flowers are dried in the sun for storage, so that whenever you want to make tea with them, you can just take some out and use them right away.

Planting method

1. You can buy a ready-made plant at a flower market, or take a small branch, remove the bottom 4 leaves and use it as a cutting;

2. After filling a flower pot with soil, insert the Japanese honeysuckle to a depth of 2 cm;

3. Insert a bamboo stick beside the Japanese honeysuckle to make it easier for the vine to climb;

4. Water thoroughly and keep the soil moist;

5. Then put a plastic bag over it, covering the plant, and secure it with a rubber band, so that the Japanese honeysuckle roots in a sealed environment (a greenhouse);

after 2-3 weeks, uncover the plastic bag and you will find the soil slightly dry and the roots already gripping the soil;

6. Next, you can transfer the Japanese honeysuckle to a larger pot, and as long as the soil is kept moist, it will grow smoothly.

Harvest in May-June every year; it is best to pick in the morning before the sun comes up, while the fragrance is rich and the nutritional benefits of the Japanese honeysuckle have not yet been lost (buds about to open are better than fully opened flowers).

Then spread all the picked flowers out in the sun and dry them for 3 days to make sure the Japanese honeysuckle is completely dry, then put it into a dry and clean bottle for storage. When you need to reduce internal heat, you can take out a few and brew them.
