Camellia chip grafting, quickly grow an old stump
Gardening Encyclopedia
There are several grafting methods for camellias. Huahua will introduce the chip grafting method. Compared with other grafting methods, chip grafting has a super high survival rate and is very easy to do, letting you quickly grow your camellia into an old stump. Come and see how it's done!
1. Prepare the rootstock
Grafting involves a scion and a rootstock; the one being grafted onto is the rootstock. What Huahua introduces here is using a Fragrant Camellia (Camellia 'Liexiang') as the rootstock, cutting off the top branches of the Liexiang.
2. Carve a small groove in the rootstock
Carve a small groove 3 cm long in the rootstock, with the shape as shown in the picture below. The groove must be big enough to fit the stem of the camellia seedling. The camellia seedling also needs half of its bark removed, just enough to match the groove.
3. Fit the seedling into the groove
As shown in the picture, place the seedling into the groove.
4. Fix the seedling in the groove
Find some black tape and wrap a loop around the part where the seedling and the groove are joined, so the seedling is fixed onto the rootstock. If you don't have black tape, you can also tie it with a plastic bag or string.
One rootstock can have several scions grafted onto it. If the rootstock diameter is 1-2 cm, graft 1 scion; if the rootstock diameter is 2-3 cm, graft 2 scions, and so on.
5. Make a high soil mound
After chip grafting, the roots of the camellia seedling used here are above the surface of the rootstock pot, so you can use a bottomless plastic flower pot or a growing cup to cover the seedling's roots and fill it with soil.
6. After half a year, cut off the seedling
For camellia grafting, generally after half a year the scion and rootstock will have merged into one. Patient gardeners can wait 8-9 months before cutting off the seedling to separate it from the rootstock.
7. Remove the black tape
After cutting off the seedling, you can peel off the black tape, and you will see that the seedling and rootstock have completely grown together. In this way you have obtained a large camellia plant!

Rose bud grafting, one plant can bear flowers of 100 colors
Gardening Encyclopedia
Do you want one rose plant to bear flowers of 100 colors? Then hurry up and learn the bud grafting method from Huahua, it's both simple and easy to succeed with!
1. Cut off a healthy leaf bud
Find a healthy, plump leaf bud, use a knife to cut downward from 1 cm above the leaf bud, cutting off about 3 cm, with a thickness of 3 mm.
2. Soak in water
Soak the cut-off leaf bud in clean water, or wrap it in a wet towel, in order to reduce water evaporation.
3. Make 1 cut in the rootstock
Use a knife to make 1 cut on the branch of the rootstock, also cutting 3 mm thick and 3 cm long. Be careful not to cut it all the way through, leaving a small piece of bark at the bottom.
4. Insert the leaf bud into the rootstock
As shown in the picture below, insert the leaf bud into the rootstock, letting the leaf bud stick out.
5. Tie up the leaf bud
Use a plastic bag to tie the leaf bud onto the rootstock. First apply the tape strip from bottom to top, then apply it again from top to bottom. Don't wrap it too tightly, and the leaf bud must stick out. This is the process of bud grafting, super simple, right!
6. Takes hold in 10-15 days
Rose bud grafting takes hold super fast. Generally after 10-15 days it has taken hold, and the leaf bud has become one with the rootstock, growing bigger and bigger! Graft roses of different colors together, and having one rose plant bear flowers of 100 colors is not exaggerated at all!
