Pennywort (Hydrocotyle vulgaris) is an ornamental plant, and its larger coin-shaped leaves are especially popular. So how can we grow bigger leaves? Let us explain below.

1. The half-soil, half-water growing method

To grow pennywort with large leaves, we first need to prepare a pot. The pot must be large and deep - only then will the leaves of the pennywort grow bigger.

Next, put some soil in the bottom of the pot. Get some soil - collect some from a park, or look for silt from a river. But there is one condition: the soil must be exposed to sunlight for several hours before use.

When everything is ready, some plants should be transplanted into the bottom of the pot. After planting, the plants will be covered with a layer of soil, and small stones placed on top to hold the roots down.

The next step is to add water. If you add water, add a few cm above the water level. When everything is done, you can put the plant in the sun and wait for it to sprout. Since the shrub is moist, you must take care that when it dries out, water must be added.

If you want to grow the leaves of pennywort, fertilizing the pennywort is important. Fertilize the pennywort once a week, putting the fertilizer into the water at the time, and the fertilizer will naturally dissolve into the pot.

Soil culture method

Besides the above method, the soil culture method is another way to cultivate this plant. In the case of soil culture, first add some organic fertilizer to the pot, then put a layer of soil on top. For the choice of soil, you can go to a pond or riverside to select soil.

Once ready, you can put in some pennywort roots. If you put a thin layer of soil on top, you can start watering. It must be watered thoroughly.

After watering, you can put the pennywort in a ventilated spot and let it be properly exposed to sunlight, which is good for its development.

When the pennywort's growth period is long, it is necessary to fertilize the plant. The fertilizing cycle is best once a week, and it can be dissolved in water for the pennywort to absorb. After completing the above steps, large leaves can be grown. But the only thing we must pay attention to is that it must always be bathed in sunlight. Fertilizing must also be done with care - you cannot apply too much fertilizer at one time, otherwise it will lead to excessive nutrients and absorption.
