Castle Howard is located in North Yorkshire, England, and has been owned and inhabited by generations of the Howard family. The castle was first built by Charles, 3rd Earl of Carlisle.

After construction, the entire castle displayed the general style popular at the time, with an expansive English-style garden unfolding in front of the main building, and the brickwork marks on the exterior facade of the main building clearly visible,

The arched windows are filled with neat, fine mullions, unified in style with the brickwork traces, and exquisite statues are set within the large arched niches, which together with the eaves embody the Baroque style.

The enormous dome at the top adds extraordinary grandeur to the building, and the side wings extend naturally through the curved surfaces of arch structures, with smooth lines.

The exquisite Italian-style garden lies behind the main building, and the entire structure is completely integrated into the artificially enhanced nature.

The entrance hall is exceptionally magnificent, with a circular staircase wrapping around above the top of the building. Columns, vaults, and surrounding walls are covered with exquisite carvings and paintings.

Castle Howard breaks away from the 17th-century English architectural rule of facing uniformly south, instead orienting its main facade to the north; on sunny days, light streams in through the tall windows, making the interior radiant and colorful.
