Song Mei, also known as Song Jinxuan Mei, is a traditional famous cultivar of Chinese orchids and the representative variety of the plum-petal flower. Original price 70 yuan, current price 49 yuan per seedling, minimum order of 3 seedlings, genuine old cultivar, free shipping, the top choice among Cymbidium goeringii. This flower was selected by Song Jinxuan of Shaoxing during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor of the Qing dynasty (1736-1795), and its name was formed by combining Song Jinxuan's surname with the plum petal of the flower. The flower shape is dignified and elegant. Together with Wan Zi, Long Zi and Ji Yuan, it is listed among the "Four Great Kings" of Cymbidium goeringii, and is acclaimed as the first of the "Four Great Kings"; together with the Cymbidium goeringii cultivar Long Zi, it is known as the "TwinJewels of Chinese Orchids". Through more than two hundred years of history, although famous orchids have emerged one after another, no plum-petal flower has surpassed it, and it stands as the classic model of plum-petal flowers.

Free shipping to most parts of the country; we bear the shipping risk. The seedlings shipped are healthy and sturdy, free of disease, and free of the infectious virus known as orchid cancer, the barlas virus. They have well-developed root systems, emerald-green leaves with excellent luster, fragrance, and frequent growth and flowering. They are not tissue-culture or hormone seedlings, have strong adaptability to the environment, are not prone to dying, and are very easy to grow.

The leaves of Song Mei are arch-shaped, generally 25cm-30cm long and 0.5cm-1.5cm wide, with bluntly pointed tips. The leaf texture is moderately thick, the leaf color is dark green with good luster, the midrib is firm and highly resilient, the leaf posture is semi-pendulous, the leaf margins have fine serrations, and the leaf surface is glossy. The beauty of its leaf posture is beyond words.

Petal shape: The main petal is upright and perfectly round, the side petals are level at the shoulders, and the center is round and neat. The three outer petals are especially tight and round, just like plum blossom petals, with tight edges resembling a white border, and the color is green. The two petals stand up like a pouch, shaped like a silkworm moth, hence they are called silkworm-moth petals. The lip is short and round, slightly turned upward, with a slight pouch at the tip, just like a child's bangs, hence it is called the bangs lip. On the lip there are irregular red spots, and the flower's appearance is very well proportioned. Plum-petal flowers, due to differences in bud mutation during cultivation, can bloom as lotus-type narcissus or plum-type narcissus. The flower scape is tall and may sometimes rise above the leaves. On the bracts there are two to three sheath shells. The flower stem has two kinds, white and white with a slight red tinge, also caused by bud mutation. Because the time when Song Mei was discovered coincided with the perfection of the theory of Chinese orchid petal forms, Song Mei was used as the model to define the plum petal and to set out the conditions that a plum-petal flower should possess. Song Mei is the typical representative of the plum-petal flower. Whether in flower appearance or in spirit and charm, over hundreds of years, among no matter which category of orchid, no plum-petal flower has been able to surpass Song Mei.

To this day, new flowers emerge endlessly. Yet which cultivar can compare with this century-old Song Mei? Cultivating orchids is about pursuing good blooming quality; it is not something settled once you obtain the cultivar. To achieve an orchid bloom that is pleasing to the eye and heart is not something that can be accomplished overnight. On the path of orchid cultivation, those of our generation still have many things to do. Let the mind quiet down and the person settle down. Orchid cultivation begins with Song Mei.
