How to water calla lilies? Master the correct watering method
I. Principles
1. There is a legend about this flower that it cannot be watered to death, because it especially likes areas with water and strongly dislikes dry areas, so it should often be kept moist and must not lack water.
2. If the temperature is relatively dry, spray some water on its above-ground parts to make the surroundings very humid. Especially during its growth and flowering periods, give it sufficient sprinkling and keep it moist, but note that after flowering, reduce the amount of watering so that it can enter dormancy.
II. Growing period
1. During its growing period, give it moderate fertilizer and water. If there is too little water, its leaf stalks will lose too much moisture and then break; if the amount of water is too large, its roots will also rot.
2. In extreme summer heat, pay attention to sprinkling water to lower the nearby temperature, and prevent exposure to overly strong light, otherwise its leaves will turn yellow or droop.
3. If its leaves are especially dense, promptly remove some of them so that the flower stalks can grow out more easily. After its flowers wither, promptly cut off some spent flowers, which can save nutrients and help it enter the next flowering stage more quickly, creating conditions for the next flowering.
III. Dormant period
1. After it enters the dormant period, reduce the amount of water given to it. If you do not want it to go dormant, you can move it to a ventilated area at the end of June for care.
2. Spray water two or three times a day at noon in the area near it. If the temperature at that time is not higher than 30°C, it can even bloom during the dormant period.
3. Before the severe winter arrives, you can move it indoors, control the amount of water, keep the indoor temperature no lower than 10°C, and give it enough light.
