How to handle a stalled Clivia (Clivia miniata)? Sharing practical solutions
1. Causes
When this condition occurs, the vast majority of the time it is caused by the soil becoming compacted. Because when this happens, the soil's aeration is affected and water permeability becomes very difficult, so the potting soil will either be in a drought state or in a waterlogged state. If we also frequently fail to fertilize it, or fertilize it in the wrong way, it becomes even more likely to cause its roots to rot; even if they do not rot, it is very easy for it to fail to absorb nutrients, which leads to the plant stalling.
2. Measures
Once the plant shows this condition, we need to solve the problem starting from the root system.
First, repot it to stimulate rooting. The specific method is: take it out of the original pot, then cut off some of the rotten and withered roots, after that place it in a solution of naphthaleneacetic acid plus a sterilizing agent, soak for about five hours, and then let it dry clean. Then choose a clay pot; this pot needs to match the size of the plant, and place one quarter coarse furnace slag at the bottom, the purpose being to make drainage easier. After that, use sterilized river sand as the substrate, place the seedling in, and then put it in a relatively humid and shady location. Apply a solution containing urea once about every ten days, and you can also add plant hormones to it.
Second, repot it to restore vigor. The specific steps are: when new leaves begin to grow or new roots grow out, you can repot it. At this time, add a drainage layer, and the soil needs to be loose and fertile. After repotting, give it a few days to recover, and then normal care can be resumed.
3. Small methods
There are some methods that can prevent this condition from occurring. After Qingming and before late autumn, pour some baijiu on it, and when pouring the baijiu, do not splash the liquor onto the plant itself. After one or two weeks there will be an effect; at the beginning it is best to use less, and after a longer time, once it takes effect, it can be discontinued after taking effect.
