How to deal with root rot in calla lilies? Practical solutions shared

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Root rot caused by root rot disease: in the early stage the leaves change color, then slowly rot, and the top of the flower also changes color and spreads to the petiole and stem; this is caused by mold in the soil. The diseased spots on its roots should be removed, then the plant should be soaked in hot water or acetic acid and replanted.

I. How to deal with it

1. Causes

First, it may have contracted root rot near the time of flowering; the outermost leaves of the plant will slowly turn brown, then continuously rot inward, and eventually even the entire plant will become rotten.

Second, if the flower has already opened, its top will also turn brown and will keep spreading to the petiole and stem, causing its middle to become hollow.

2. Methods of treatment

First, remove all the spots on the roots, leave them to dry, then soak them in hot water for about one hour, and replant. Alternatively, soak them in acetic acid for a while. Plants treated this way grow rather slowly at first, so it is best to start planting fifteen days in advance.

Second, disinfect the planting soil. Sterilize its soil and pot with hot water before using them again. You can also use some specialized chemicals to spray the soil, but this must be done before planting, so as not to hinder its normal growth.

II. How to prevent root rot

1. First, choose very high-quality seeds, and also disinfect the soil first when preparing the mix.

2. When choosing a container, choose a relatively large pot, then use very loose and fertile soil.

3. Do not plant too deep, and do not water too much either. If planted outdoors, be careful to shelter it from rain.
