Propagate a Christmas cactus and every cutting takes root - the old lady next door's propagation method is really great
The Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera) is a common flowering potted plant. It has many varieties and rich, colorful blooms, and it is very beautiful whenever it flowers. Propagating a Christmas cactus is also very simple. The Christmas cactus propagated by the old lady next door takes root with every cutting - amazing!
Now let me share it with everyone, for your reference!
Specific method
Soil rooting
Select healthy, plump Christmas cactus branches with about 3-5 nodes, disinfect the cut with a carbendazim solution, leave them for 24 hours, and after they are fully dried, insert them into sandy soil, water thoroughly once, and under suitable temperature conditions, they will root in one month.
To increase the survival rate, before cuttings, soak the cut end of the branch in rooting solution for ten minutes, and the survival rate can reach 100%. To judge whether the Christmas cactus has survived, you can check the leaves: if the leaves are no longer soft, it means it has rooted and survived, and at this time it can be moved into a pot.
The Christmas cactus is suited to loose, fertile, well-drained soil. For the soil, you can use garden soil plus leaf mold plus a small amount of coarse sand and then add a small amount of organic base fertilizer, which can make the Christmas cactus grow rapidly with emerald green, plump branches and leaves!
Water rooting
Take healthy, plump Christmas cactus branches, cut them into 3-5 nodes, insert them into water, and under suitable environmental conditions, they will root in 20 to 30 days. For the water used for cuttings, it is recommended to let it sit for a few days before use; otherwise, it contains a large amount of chlorine and bleaching powder, which can easily reduce the survival rate.
When the roots grow to 3 to 5 cm, they can be moved into a pot. Whether rooting in water or rooting in soil, they all need to be placed in a cool, well-ventilated place!
Both methods are very simple and convenient. Have you fellow flower lovers learned them?
