What to Do About Yellow Leaves on Pothos and Money Tree? One Small Trick Makes the Leaves Glossy and Green

Fellow plant lovers, summer is almost here. Without a few green plants on the balcony, it just doesn't feel like summer. Pothos and money tree are ones everyone grows often, and they're easy to keep alive, but when you see yellow leaves or falling leaves, you panic and don't know what to do. So what should we do? Let's take a look!
I. Pothos
1. Unstable temperature
The emerald-green pothos is fairly suited to warm temperatures, and it is greatly affected by its surroundings.
If the weather won't cooperate, with good days and bad days, and temperatures rising and falling, the pothos just can't take it. It droops and even its color turns dull.
It could also be because a newly purchased pothos has just come out of the greenhouse and hasn't yet adapted to the outdoor temperature.
At this point we can move the pothos into a ventilated indoor space, because indoor temperatures are more stable than outdoors, which lets the pothos suffer less.
So, fellow plant lovers, don't put a newly purchased pothos on the balcony right away. Put it in a ventilated indoor spot for two days, then move it to the balcony or windowsill. It will perk up.
When you want to let the pothos out to get some sun, don't expose it to harsh sun. You can put it in a semi-shaded spot for a little sun and give it some water. When watering, it's best not to water the soil directly. Using a spray bottle to water is recommended, as this distributes it more evenly. The pothos will love it too.
2. The plant is too dense
I remember the pothos clearly looked fine, and a few days later it suddenly wilted. What's going on?
At this point, gently pull apart the pothos's dense leaves and take a look.
Wow! The stems are packed tightly together. At this point you should choose to divide the plant, and you can divide it into water culture or soil culture.
Soil culture
First pick out some seedlings from the original pothos and put them in a flower pot. When you have about a handful, gently tie them together with a soft string, and sprinkle ceramic granules plus soil at the bottom.
Remember when choosing a flower pot, the bottom of the pot must have drainage holes.
Then plant it. Spread another layer of ceramic granules on the surface of the pot, then water thoroughly and you're done.
Water culture
If it's water culture, just add ceramic granules from the bottom of the container up to a point 2 cm from the rim, and that's it.
When watering, remember to water to one third of the container's volume!
At this point, pay attention: a freshly divided pothos should be kept in a cool, ventilated place for 3-5 days. Slowly, they will perk up more and more, and just like that you have another pot of pothos. Happy?
3. Too much fertilizer
If it's because of too much fertilizer, the pothos leaves will start from the tips and slowly turn yellow and scorched. At this point you should stop fertilizing immediately. In severe cases, you need to change the soil.
It could also be because of too little fertilizer. At this point, aside from the new leaves, the old leaves of the pothos will turn yellow in large patches. It's reminding you that it's time to fertilize!
4. Too little fertilizer
At this point we can ferment rice-washing water and then dilute it with water to fertilize. The rice-washing water is fully fermented after one to two weeks of fermentation,
and the dilution ratio with water is 1:1000.
If it's water culture, you can spray some nutrient solution. With nutrients, the pothos will naturally return to its former perky look.
II. Money tree
What should you do when the money tree's leaves turn yellow and drop?
1. Too much watering
If the pot it's planted in isn't large, you can put it in a ventilated spot and let it dry out for a while.
If the pot is very large and there's too much standing water, and the leaves have already turned yellow and soft, then quickly dig out its roots to see whether they've all rotted. If they've all rotted, then there's really no saving it, and you can only mourn for it.
But if the leaves haven't all turned soft and the roots haven't completely rotted, you can cut off all the rotted parts, soak them in rooting water to root, and replant. Only water after the soil has completely dried out, and this time don't overwater again!
2. Not enough ventilation in the location
Money trees are usually grown indoors. If the location isn't ventilated enough, the leaves rot very easily, so it must be placed in a ventilated spot.
Be very careful not to expose it to harsh sun~
3. It has leaf spot disease
Pay attention: a money tree in poor condition easily gets leaf spot disease. In this situation, if only a small number of leaves are affected, remove the leaves and apply some fertilizer, and the little tree can grow healthily.
As for fertilizer, you can choose water from a fish tank that contains fish droppings. The little tree will love it.
But if the leaf spot disease is relatively severe, you have to cut off the affected part at the top of the tree, apply carbendazim to the cut surface to disinfect it, then dig out the roots to see whether they're intact. If the roots have rotted, there's nothing you can do, but if the roots are still fine, you can replant it.
