Orchids are fresh and elegant, one of China's top ten famous flowers, long honored as the gentleman among flowers. There are many orchid varieties, and their flower colors are quite complete, including white, yellow, red, cyan, purple and so on. If you want orchids to grow vigorously and bloom quickly, pay attention to these aspects.

One, fertilizing. The flowering period of orchids is generally in autumn, from July to September. At this time, fertilizer must be kept up. Use more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate, which can promote flower bud differentiation and let the plant form buds earlier. When fertilizing, apply once every half month, and you can fertilize at a ratio of 1:1000. Applying two to three times is enough.

Two, temperature difference. After orchids have flower buds, they need a temperature difference of about ten degrees. Especially in winter, around ten degrees at night and around twenty degrees during the day is most suitable for orchids to shoot up spikes and bloom. If the temperature is too high and too constant, the plant's flower spikes will not be able to shoot out or will be short and small, and are prone to being trapped.

Three, lighting. Apart from needing shade in summer, orchids should be given sufficient light in the other seasons. With insufficient light, the leaves are weak, the color is pale, and it is not easy to produce buds; the flowers that bloom are also thin and listless. Especially for Cymbidium sinense, be sure to pay attention to light in summer and do not expose it to strong light. Too much strong light easily causes the leaves to turn yellow. In winter and spring, you can appropriately increase light, which is good for its flowering.

Four, soil. The soil used for orchids must be loose and breathable. Generally, granular soil such as bark and pottery charcoal is used to plant them. Because orchids like moisture, but water must not accumulate. Orchids have fleshy roots, with a relatively weak ability to absorb water and a relatively strong ability to store water. If water accumulates even slightly, the roots rot easily. Granular soil has good breathability, water evaporates quickly, and roots do not rot easily.

Once you have mastered these key points, there will be no problem at all with orchids blooming. Anyone can grow at home a pot of the plain and elegant gentleman bursting with flower buds.
