After people finish renovating a new home, there is always a smell in the room. Whether it comes from the wallpaper or the flooring, it is the smell of formaldehyde, so we buy some plants and put them in the room. But the plant everyone always mentions for absorbing formaldehyde is pothos. Today, however, the several plants I will tell everyone about are also great helpers for absorbing formaldehyde.

The first is the peace lily (Spathiphyllum). The peace lily can not only absorb formaldehyde, but also ammonia, acetone, trichloroethylene, benzene and so on. That is quite a lot, isn't it? The peace lily cannot be placed in direct sunlight, and it needs plenty of water, because the peace lily likes a humid environment.

The second is the Swiss cheese plant (Monstera deliciosa). The best plant for absorbing formaldehyde is not pothos but the Swiss cheese plant. The Swiss cheese plant has very large leaf area, but Dracaena fragrans 'Massangeana' (corn plant) is actually the highest one, ranking first on the list.

The third is the parlor palm (Chamaedorea elegans). The parlor palm can absorb formaldehyde and trichloroethylene. For care, it should be placed in a cool, ventilated spot and must not be exposed to direct sunlight. The parlor palm likes a humid environment, so water it three or four times a week.
