What to do about yellow leaves on azaleas? Put a drop of this in the pot, and it will bloom with 100 flowers in a bursting pot

Azaleas are widely loved by flower enthusiasts because of their many colors, brilliant blooms, and long flowering period. Why do other people's azaleas have lush branches and leaves and clusters of flowers? While your azaleas grow slowly, have yellowing leaves, and bloom sparsely? Because you haven't mastered the correct way to cultivate azaleas!

Care key point 1: Azaleas like acid

I wonder if any friends have noticed that their azalea leaves turn yellow very easily, and even after watering with ferrous sulfate it is hard to make them green again. Why is that? In fact, this has to do with the soil. Azaleas like acidic soil. If the soil becomes alkaline, they will "throw a tantrum."

So what should be done to get acidic soil? Every household has white vinegar, right? Besides being used for seasoning, it can also be used to adjust the pH of the soil!

Each time you water the azaleas, drip a few drops of white vinegar into the water, and this way you can get acidic soil.

Of course, if it is planted in the ground or if friends find it troublesome, you can bury sulfur powder in the soil. After the sulfur powder is buried, it will be oxidized, and this can also make it acidic.

Care key point 2: Fertilizing

Azaleas are plants that very much like fertilizer, but are also very prone to fertilizer burn. When fertilizing azaleas, you must follow "light fertilizer, frequent application," otherwise the loss will outweigh the gain if improper fertilizing causes fertilizer burn and death!

It is now the azalea flowering period, and I mix cake fertilizer with water and use it together on the azaleas. Cake fertilizer can provide nutrients for the azaleas, ensuring the nutrition needed for blooming.

Of course, cake fertilizer alone is not enough. I also use urea, because azaleas are plants that bloom on new shoots, and to bloom well the branches must also grow well.

Urea is a high-nitrogen fertilizer that can promote branch growth. After the branches grow, they can differentiate more flower buds.

For regular fertilizing, use cake fertilizer and urea alternately. If you use cake fertilizer this week, use urea next week, ensuring a comprehensive supply of nutrients.

Care key point 3: Reasonable pruning

A single azalea flower can bloom for a long time, but once it finishes blooming it needs to be cut off to avoid nutrient diversion that inhibits later flower formation.

Also, weak branches should be pruned away. Weak branches cannot produce large, brightly colored flowers~

As shown in the picture above, after the flowers fade, use scissors to cut off one third of that branch. This is enough to enhance internal ventilation, strengthen light exposure, and promote branch growth.

After pruning the faded flowers, do a good job with water and fertilizer management, and it can bloom once more at the end of June, thus extending the flowering time.

Care key point 4: Pests and diseases

After three years of growing azaleas, I have found that they are very prone to spider mites and brown spot disease, especially during the plum rain season, when management is even more necessary.

Spider mites are a type of leaf mite. They suck plant sap. Although this will not cause death, it will seriously affect photosynthesis and reduce the number of flowers.

As for brown spot disease, large areas of brown to dark brown spots appear, and in severe cases death can occur! So it must not be taken lightly.

For spider mites, use abamectin, spraying once a week, and three or four consecutive times can kill them. Remember to spray the backs of the leaves, as that is where spider mites are most concentrated.

For brown spot disease, spray an 800-times dilution of thiophanate-methyl or a 1000-times dilution of Yebantongsha, once every 10 days, and it takes effect after 2~3 consecutive sprays.
