How to repot gloxinia? Detailed explanation of the correct method and steps

It should be repotted in winter, then choose the required soil, and afterward dig out the dormant tuber; if there are a lot of roots, they can be trimmed appropriately. There is also a trick to choosing the pot: it only needs to be a little larger than the tuber, and the upper half of the tuber must be left exposed.

I. Timing of repotting

Generally, it should be repotted during the winter dormant period.

II. Steps for repotting

1. The soil used is one part nutrient soil mixed with one part peat soil. It is best to add a little base fertilizer as well. The soil composition can also be mixed yourself, but one key point must be grasped, which is to ensure the soil is airy; in addition, water it appropriately, but not too much.

2. The tuber is required to be dormant. After the first two steps are done, we need to dig it out of the old pot and place it into the new pot. If the tuber has too many tangled roots, some trimming can be done, but be careful not to trim too much.

3. Find a flower pot of suitable size. The size of the pot should be based on whether the tuber can fit inside; the pot still needs to be a little larger than the tuber, and a radius 2 to 3 cm larger is very good. If the pot is too large and there is too much soil, the soil will not dry out easily after watering; if the tuber stays in a moist state for a long time, there will be relatively great harm, for example, the roots will easily rot. The bottom of the flower pot must have holes that allow water to drain out, so it can be more airy; it is best to cover them with a material that has good air permeability and drainage, such as palm leaves and so on.

4. Do not bury the tuber completely in the soil; its upper half should be left exposed outside. Its buds begin to grow from the upper part of the tuber, and tender buds in the soil will easily rot. Up to this step, the repotting steps are complete; afterward, attention should still be paid to its routine care.

III. Care after repotting

After repotting it, pay attention to keeping it out of direct light, place it in a warm environment, water it regularly, and it is best to spray it with a watering can every day, so as to promote growth. As long as it is given normal care, it can grow especially well.
