Ivy Hydroponic Growing Methods and Precautions
1. Temperature
It relatively prefers a warm environment, and the most suitable environment is 20 to 25 degrees. It cannot tolerate stuffy heat, but its tolerance for cold is relatively strong, so we can place it in a room, give it some ventilation in summer, and in winter keep its temperature above 10 degrees, not letting it drop below 5 degrees.
2. Light
It relatively prefers light, but it can also tolerate shade very well. So we can consider placing it in a semi-shady spot; this way its internodes will be relatively shorter, its leaves will grow more uniformly, and its color will be more vivid. In spring and autumn, we can still let it see sunlight in both the morning and the evening, then choose a period to place it in a shaded spot; this way it can prevent direct strong light, avoid sunscald, and also let it grow very vigorously.
3. Support
A support is relatively important for it, because it needs to grow upward, so propping it up with a support is fairly good. Moreover, its vines droop in a relatively natural and elegant way, so it is very nice to place in the living room and the assembly room.
4. Precautions
You should pinch it back after Spring Festival, so that it will have more branches, and if it has grown for many years, it should be pruned, cutting away all those dead and weak branches. In routine care, you should also spray some mist on its leaves, so that its leaves will not dry out. Also, you must change the water frequently, preferably once every one or two days, so that it will not rot. Every time you change the water, add nutrient solution dropwise for it. Before rooting, it cannot be given light; only scattered light can be given.
