Many gardening friends' rose flowers have slowly begun to fade, and some say they do not know whether they can get their roses to bloom a second time. In fact, the flowers tell you: if you want your roses to bloom a second time in succession, you need to care for them like this. After a week new shoots appear again, and blooms soon cover the branches once more!

1. Pruning

If you want your rose to send out new shoots and bloom earlier, pruning it is essential. There are two main things to prune:

First, once the flowers have faded, cut off the spent blooms right away. When cutting, count three or four leaves down from the flower along the stem, then cut at a 45° angle, and then adjust these branches slightly so their buds face outward.

Second, cut back the branches: remove the ones that do not bloom, the old branches and so on, to reduce excessive consumption of nutrients. If the plant is rather dense, you can also remove some of the thinner, smaller branches to leave more growing space for the other branches.

2. Light

For a plant to grow and bloom, it cannot do without light, so during this period provide it with enough light. Of course, at noon you should shade it appropriately.

4. Water

Roses do not need to be watered too frequently, otherwise in a hot, humid environment the roots rot easily. Just water whenever the soil looks dry. Normally you can spray some moisture on its leaves and branches more often to raise the humidity, and that is enough.

3. Fertilizing

After pruning, wait about a week, then start providing nutrients. You can apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, with a little nitrogen fertilizer mixed in, and this will promote a second bloom on your rose.

That is all for rose care. If you gardening friends have anything to add, you can share it with everyone in the comments section below. To learn more about growing flowers, follow Huajianke!
