Taiwan's agricultural machinery output value reaches ten billion, with high cost-performance ratio mainly for export, targeting Southeast Asia to sell complete farming models
Taiwan's agricultural machinery consists mainly of small and medium-sized machines, and their cost is relatively cheaper than in other countries. They can generate an annual output value of ten billion yuan, of which exports account for 60 percent, mainly to Southeast Asian countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and others. Lin Tsung-hsien, head of the Council of Agriculture, said that the advantage of Taiwan's agricultural machinery is its especially high cost-performance ratio, which attracts domestic and foreign buyers. In the future, when exporting agricultural machinery, Taiwan will also share the foundations of agricultural development with those countries to create a mutually beneficial and win-win trade cooperation model.
Weng Chen-hsin, chief secretary of the Agriculture and Food Agency of the Council of Agriculture, said, "We are not just selling machinery; we are selling a complete model." Weng explained that tomatoes, watermelons, cauliflower and others are Taiwan's strengths. Taking cherry tomatoes as an example, the excellent varieties developed through crossbreeding in Taiwan cannot simply be bought abroad and grown by taking the seeds home. "They have to come back to us every time to buy, so that the business can continue." From varieties, tomato seedling grafting machines, greenhouses and more, a complete model is sold for export.
