Plants grown at home inevitably get pests and diseases, such as aphids, red spider mites, and powdery mildew. If you spray pesticides, you worry about them not being eco-friendly and polluting the indoor environment. Sometimes the pesticide is so toxic that it kills the plants too. Today, Huahua teaches you a few eco-friendly and highly effective pest-killing methods!

Foam board fitted over the pot surface

When a plant gets pests or diseases, you must treat it as early as possible, otherwise it will get worse and worse! Huahua teaches you how to kill all the bugs with a single piece of foam board! Huahua will first use aphids as an example to explain the specific steps!

1. Cut the foam board into a circle

Find a piece of foam board and cut it into a circle slightly smaller than the pot surface, then cut a slit in it, just big enough for the bottom stems to pass through.

2. Fit the foam board over the pot surface

Pass the foam board through the slit at the base of the plant's main stem so that the foam board sits over the pot surface. If you don't have a foam board, you can also wrap the pot with 1 plastic bag, as long as the potting soil doesn't leak out.

3. Lay the pot flat

Under the faucet, place 1 basin upside down, then lay the pot flat on the bottom of the basin.

4. Turn on the faucet and rinse

Rinse the branches and leaves with water, gently rub and wash the leaves with your hands, and wash away the aphids and their secretions.

5. After rinsing, put it in a ventilated place

After rinsing clean, put it in a ventilated place and carefully check whether there are still aphids. If there are, rinse it a few more times. Generally, after rinsing 2-3 times, the aphids are completely dead.

6. Suitable for many pests and diseases

Pests and diseases like powdery mildew, aphids, and red spider mites can all be treated with the clean water rinsing method.

After rinsing with clean water, spray a little laundry detergent water

After thoroughly rinsing off the bugs with clean water, if you're worried about getting pests and diseases again, you can spray laundry detergent water on the plant for prevention. The pest-prevention and pest-killing effect doubles!

1. Dissolve laundry detergent in clean water

Take 1 spoonful of the laundry detergent commonly used at home into a water basin, then add clean water at a dilution of 800 times, and stir gently to let the laundry detergent dissolve completely.

2. Spray onto the leaves

Put the laundry detergent water into a spray bottle and spray it toward the leaves, trying not to spray it into the soil. It's even better to spray all the branches and leaves. It is very effective for controlling aphids, red spider mites, scale insects, whiteflies, and more!

3. Rinse again with clean water the next day

The next day, rinse off the laundry detergent residue on the branches and leaves with clean water, to prevent the laundry detergent from damaging the branches and leaves over a long period.

After rinsing with clean water, spray a little chili water

The chili that every household eats is also a great helper for growing plants and killing pests. It does no harm to the plants and is very eco-friendly. Come and see how to use it!

1. The chili must be spicy enough to effectively kill pests

You need to choose chili that is spicy enough to have a pest-killing effect, otherwise it's just wasted effort! For example, facing heaven chili or Mexican chili, super spicy!

2. Boil chili water

Find 5 chilies, cut them open, put them in a pot, add 1 liter of water, which is about the amount of 2 ordinary mineral water bottles, bring to a boil, then simmer on low heat for 30 minutes, and finally let it cool.

3. Spray the branches and leaves

Filter the chili water, put the chili water without impurities into a spray bottle, and spray it toward the plant's branches and leaves. The leftover spray can be poured directly into the soil. Red spider mites, aphids, fungus gnats, and more will all die once sprayed with chili water!

That's all for the pest-killing methods for now.
