Rare wild orchids are a scarce commodity held for a high price: a wild-collected orchid with silky striped variegation sold for a thousand yuan 5 years ago, and now sells for five thousand yuan

Rare wild orchids are as scarce as antiques, and many orchid enthusiasts love to collect wild-collected orchids. In recent years, because professional orchid hunters keep digging them up, the number of wild-collected orchids has become smaller and smaller, especially the beautiful silky striped variegation and the medium transparent striped variegation, which are even harder to find at any price. No matter where you are, things are precious when they are scarce, and the value of wild-collected orchids, as scarce as antiques, is shown exactly in this.

Quite a few friends question why just one plant of grass can sell for several thousand, or even tens of thousands of yuan, and why there are still many people who want to buy it. They think it is orchid speculation. I can only say it is personal preference, and only people who truly understand orchids know the value of orchids. More and more high-end players are entering the orchid market, and in recent years orchid prices have risen all the way, with the prices of some rare varieties soaring even higher. For example, this wild-collected orchid with silky striped variegation cost only over a thousand yuan 5 years ago, and now it can sell for at least five thousand yuan, a 5-fold increase in price.

Among wild-dug orchids, there may not be a single superior plant even among tens of thousands of them. Therefore, "a scarce commodity held for a high price" is the main reason some rare orchid varieties have skyrocketed in price.
