Aquascaping in a planted tank, one corner is my whole world

Constrained by reality, our hobbies can never be fully unleashed. Not having a big enough home is perhaps the biggest factor forcing us to constantly compress our passions. Liking plants, liking aquariums, at most you can be given just a small corner.

And in fact, many hobbyists fully unleash their creativity, not only making this small space neat and orderly, but also adding a lot of charm to their homes.

A natural wood-colored desktop full of greenery and a planted tank makes one instinctively connect with nature

Various containers on the desktop hold plants

On the left and right sides, half cool and half warm

Half aquatic, half terrestrial, full of wildness

What I want to share with you today is

a corner full of plants and little touches,

as long as you put your heart into it,

we ordinary hobbyists can all achieve it.

You see, in the corner there are succulents

there are air plants (Tillandsia)

there are trailing green plants

there are bromeliads (Tillandsia cyanea)

there are staghorn ferns (Platycerium)

and of course there is our beloved planted tank

Bromeliads + air plants

So, this corner is like this:

You can see that in the scene, some of the aquascaping in the planted tank and the placement and positions of the plants will have discrepancies, because the owner has been continuously adjusting them over more than 2 years. I have not strictly displayed them in chronological order here, so the plants in some pictures will be different.

The planted tank is placed on 3 cabinets, with various plants high and low, some hanging and some on stands, making this space look full and rich

Ivy has climbed onto the light stand

Spanish moss drapes down from the light stand

Club moss is arranged beside the decorative mirror

Some of the light sources from the planted tank are not wasted either - a wooden board is put up on the wall to grow plants

Of course, the arrangement of plants was not completed all at once. The two pictures below show the difference between the early stage of the arrangement and later on - many more plants were added.

Below, I will show some details of how this corner was gradually built. There are many little touches here that fully demonstrate the owner's love for this place.

A sealed glass cup is used to keep Bucephalandra, and you can see its condition is really quite good

The Bucephalandra is placed where it can receive light from the lamp, with sphagnum moss laid at the bottom, given some water, and apart from opening the lid for ventilation, it can basically be left alone for a long time

The lid of the tall bottle in the middle cleverly uses a narcissus. The humidity in the bottle can provide the narcissus with the water it needs, and the narcissus can serve as a lid to isolate the humidity inside the bottle - truly killing several birds with one stone

Orchids are attached epiphytically to tree bark

Making some decorations for the sealed glass cup

The bought camouflage plant (Aglaonema) has arrived, carefully repotting it

Making a small house-shaped greenhouse

Jewel orchid leaves made into a decoration, uniquely distinctive

Planting bowl lotus

At the very bottom, lay a very coarse substrate (similar to akadama, etc.)

Cover with cotton, leaving a corner open to insert a round tube

Look from another angle

Let me explain why this is done. After spraying water for a long time, a lot of water will accumulate at the bottom. If this water is left unchecked, the water level will eventually rise above the soil layer where the plants are grown, and the plant roots will all rot. With this method, you can extend a thin tube into this plastic pipe and use the principle of siphonage to draw out the excess water, ensuring the roots can breathe

Add plants

In order for the moss on the above-water part of the planted tank to grow well, water is directed to where the moss grows. Verified over time, this method works quite well

The planted tank is quite nice

Other details:

A corner, full of love.

Our hobbies do not need to be realized with a very large space or very high-end equipment. As long as you are willing to spend time and thought on it, we can get a perfect corner. For us, this place may just be a whole world.
