How to grow ivy in water so it roots quickly
I. Selection of cuttings
1. Selecting the cutting is a very important matter; only if you choose the right cutting can its roots grow better. The cutting you choose must have aerial roots, and in this way after ten days it will grow water roots.
2. The best method is not to cut the branch off first, but to place a pot or vase next to it; if there is one that has grown aerial roots, you can put the branch with them into it, and after it grows roots, take it out.
3. In addition, there are also requirements for the variety you choose; using an all-green one makes it easier to survive.
II. Water requirements
1. At the beginning of water cultivation, you must change the water frequently, about once every one or two days, so as to keep the water clean and keep its branches from rotting, and you must not put too much water in it; let some roots be in the air.
2. Every so often, we should spray it with water to increase the humidity in the room, and afterward rinse the leaves. In midsummer it is dormant, so we should use clean water to grow it, because using other kinds of water easily causes its roots to rot and does no good for its growth.
III. Light requirements
1. At the very beginning, you cannot give it too much light; if you keep it in complete darkness for the first one or two days, its roots will grow especially fast and will appear in less than ten days.
2. Afterward, we can give it indirect light; be sure to remember not to give it strong light, because it itself does not like strong light. This is a major trick for fast root growth; everyone can give it a try.
IV. Washing the roots
When you take it out of the soil, wash its roots clean; at this time you need to be a little careful and must never break its roots, otherwise it will have a bad effect on its later water cultivation, and when washing the roots, be careful not to wash off its root hairs. Also, when it has grown roots, you cannot easily switch it to soil cultivation; it is better to switch it when it has grown very strong.
