How to repot a jade plant? The correct method and precautions

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Time: any time except the cold of winter, but it is best done in March or April. Method: first take it out of the original pot, place it together with the root soil ball into a slightly larger new pot filled with new soil, then fill in new soil.

1. When should you change to a new pot

1. There are no great rules about this, because it is quite hardy; you just need to be careful not to damage its roots.

2. If you really want to be particular, early spring is the best time. After repotting it into a new pot, place it in a bright area for care, and after seven days it will recover well.

3. This tree does not have high demands regarding timing, so it can be repotted from spring to autumn, but if it is relatively large, it is best to repot it every year in March or April.

2. Method

1. First find a pot a bit larger than the original one, then take it out of the original pot, taking care to keep part of the soil from its bottom, which helps keep its roots from being damaged.

2. Then put a layer of soil in the bottom of its new pot, after that place it in together with the soil on its roots, and finally fill soil in around it.

3. Precautions

1. If conditions at home allow, you can add some rotted leaves or livestock manure to the soil, so you do not need to specially buy fertilized soil from the market.

2. The soil in the pot should be at least about one cm lower than the pot, so that when you sprinkle water on it the water will not overflow. If the temperature at this time is around ten degrees, you do not need to sprinkle water on it; wait until the temperature rises before sprinkling water, otherwise its roots will rot. Do not worry too much; even if you do not sprinkle water on it for a year, it will not die.

3. Of course, it is still best not to repot it in the cold of winter, unless your home has plenty of heating and the climate where you live can have sunshine from time to time.
