What to Do About Root Rot in Jade Plants? The Correct Treatment and Rescue Methods

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Cause 1: When grown in water, leaves fall into the water and make it dirty, which breeds many pathogens that affect the health of the roots. Method: Remove the rotted parts, then apply a fungicide to them. Cause 2: When grown in soil, overwatering causes waterlogged soil, which leads to root rot. Method: Take it out, remove the rotted roots, and plant it in fresh soil.

I. Causes

1. If you are growing it in water, it is certainly because its leaves have fallen into the water and affected the purity of the water. Once the water becomes dirty, it breeds many pathogens, so the roots not only fail to get enough nutrients, but also become infected and rot.

2. If you are growing it in soil, when caring for it you need to pay attention not only to the moisture of the soil, but also to loosening the soil properly so that its drainage always stays normal. Otherwise, excess water easily builds up in the pot, the roots cannot breathe, and they rot.

II. Solutions

1. If it is grown in water, first remove the rotted parts, then apply some fungicide to the wounds to prevent infection again, and then place it in a ventilated, airy area to heal and dry.

2. If it is grown in soil, take it out of the soil, remove the rotted roots, and let it dry. Spray some water on the ground, place it on the ground, and keep the humidity around it high; it will gradually grow aerial roots on its own. Once its aerial roots have grown out, plant it in fresh soil.

3. This plant is extremely adaptable, so there is no need to worry too much. As long as you kill all the pathogens, it will gradually recover.
