Uncle loves to loosen the soil when growing flowers, and after loosening, the flowers grow vigorously and bloom like crazy
Uncle Li loves digging the soil, and his gardenias bloom big and bright
Uncle Li grows several pots of gardenias, and they bloom so well. The flowers are pure white, and the fragrance fills the whole yard. It's truly enviable. Uncle Li taking a small shovel to dig the soil really isn't for nothing. He gently scrapes off a layer of soil from the surface of the pot, then spreads a layer of new soil on top. Why does he do this?
Water contains some saline-alkaline substances. After watering, these saline-alkaline substances gradually accumulate on the surface of the potting soil, making the top layer of soil turn gray and white. This easily leads to soil salinization. Uncle Li does this to remove the salinized top layer of soil!
Add some sawdust to the pot, and the potting soil stays loose and doesn't harden
Besides learning from Uncle Li to dig the potting soil, flower lovers can also add some sawdust to the soil to make it loose and breathable, preventing soil hardening and salinization. But the sawdust must be fermented first.
1. Collect sawdust
Sawdust is the wood shavings and scraps produced when factories process wood. If conditions allow, you can go to a lumber mill and pick up some fresh sawdust. But don't pick up sawdust that has been glued together.
2. Pour rice-washing water into the sawdust
Put the sawdust into a plastic bucket, pour rice-washing water over it, just soak the sawdust thoroughly, then put the lid on.
3. Put it in the sun to ferment
Put the plastic bucket in the sun. Every 2-3 days, open the lid. If the sawdust's moisture content has decreased, pour in some more rice-washing water.
4. Fermentation is done in 2 months
Generally within 2 months, the sawdust will be fully fermented. The color of the sawdust will change from pale yellow to black or dark brown.
5. Mix it into the soil, and the soil becomes loose and breathable
Mix sawdust into the soil at a soil-to-sawdust ratio of 1:1. Stir it evenly and it's ready for growing flowers. Sawdust soil is not only very loose but also rich in nutrients.
Pour some fruit peel fertilizer liquid into the pot, and the soil becomes loose and fertile
Make fruit peels into organic fruit peel fertilizer liquid and pour it into the soil. This can also prevent soil hardening and salinization, and save money on buying fertilizer!
1. Collect various fruit peels
Common fruit peels from daily life can all be used to make homemade fertilizer liquid, such as apple, orange, banana, dragon fruit, etc. If fruit goes bad, don't throw it away either. It's perfect to use together with the peels to make fertilizer liquid.
2. Chop the fruit peels
Use a knife to chop the fruit peels. The finer they are, the faster the fermentation, and the faster the nutrients are released.
3. Put them in a bottle and seal it
Put the chopped fruit peels into a plastic bottle, then add clean water, about 8 parts full is fine. Put the cap on and place it in the sun. Every 2-3 days, open the cap to let air in for 1 minute, then put it back on. It will be fully fermented in 1 month.
4. Pour it into the soil
Fruit peel fertilizer liquid cannot be poured directly onto flowers. If the concentration is too high, it can easily burn the flowers to death. Pour out an appropriate amount of fertilizer liquid, add 50 times the amount of water to dilute it, and then water with it. Just water 1-2 times a month, and the flowers will grow vigorously after drinking it.
Soil hardening and salinization
are very harmful to flower growth.
Flower lovers might as well try these 3 methods.
