Plant these 8 flowers now, and in half a month your balcony will be bursting with blooms, and even passersby will be envious.
Yueyuefen (Chinese rose)
Unlike other delicate roses, this is a native variety of ours. It's very easy to grow, blooms abundantly and frequently, and has a strong fragrance too~
Because it blooms a lot, it needs plenty of nutrients. You can plant it in leaf mold mixed with chicken manure, or just buy flower fertilizer and add it in.
Normally, watering once every 3-6 days is enough.
Yueyuefen is a shrub. If well cared for, it can reach 2 m tall in less than two years and bloom from spring to autumn. Who wouldn't love it?
Morning glory
Morning glory is a wildflower Huahua often saw as a child. Now it's rarely seen outside, so we can buy seeds and grow it at home.
The temperature is around 20 degrees now, which is perfect for planting morning glories. Ordinary flower soil will do. Bury the seeds and water thoroughly.
Keep the potting soil moist, and the tender sprouts will soon break through the soil.
Put it in a ventilated spot on the balcony and wait for it to grow rapidly.
In less than 2 months it can take over the balcony, and the color can even change with the acidity or alkalinity of the soil.
Spider plant
Spider plants are fresh and elegant, very suitable for summer viewing. Plant them now, and with their super strong reproductive ability, one pot can quickly become 10 pots!
Spider plants produce many small plantlets.
You can cut off the small spider plantlets and soak them in rooting water. They will root in about 1 week.
After rooting, they can be planted again.
If you cut this many small seedlings, never mind 10 pots, you could even have 100 pots.
Hydrangea
When it comes to fast and big blooms, of course we have to talk about hydrangeas~ Huahua has talked before about hydrangea cuttings. I wonder if gardening friends still remember.
Cut hydrangea stems into short branches 6-10 cm tall and cut off most of the leaves.
Insert them into flower soil and keep them warm and moist (you can wrap them in a plastic bag), then wait for them to root.
After about 2-3 weeks, once they have rooted, divide and plant them into flower pots. Choose breathable leaf mold or coco peat soil for the potting soil.
Hydrangeas cannot be exposed to strong sun. Watering once every 2-3 days will let them grow quickly.
Bougainvillea
I believe many gardening friends know bougainvillea. It grows very vigorously. What we usually see is red. If you like fresh colors in spring and summer, you can choose white or pink.
Besides directly buying bougainvillea seedlings, we can also grow seedlings from cuttings by soaking bougainvillea branches (1-year-old softwood branches) in rooting water.
Or insert them into moist flower soil.
Both rooting methods above take about 10-20 days to root. After rooting, they can be planted directly.
Once the seedlings are stable, water once every 5-7 days. Usually you can put them on the balcony in direct sun with no problem, and you can enjoy beautiful bougainvillea in the same year.
Verbena
Verbena comes in many colors and they are very bright. Blooming in summer makes it especially fitting for the season.
Since it is usually bought home as a whole pot, Huahua will talk about how to care for it. Verbena is not demanding about soil; ordinary flower soil is fine. Put it in a semi-shaded spot on the balcony, and do not expose it to strong sun.
It can also be grown hanging. Just water once every 2-3 days.
Summer chrysanthemum
Summer chrysanthemums can bloom in summer and autumn. Summer is the first flowering period, with more and denser blooms.
The colors are many and vivid, and the flowering period is also very long.
Summer chrysanthemums are rather exuberant and need plenty of sunlight, water and fertilizer. Normally you can put them on the balcony and water once every 2 days.
Confederate jasmine (star jasmine)
A very easy-to-grow vine plant that blooms in all four seasons. Its bright red flowers give off wave after wave of fragrance, making it simply impossible to resist.
When growing confederate jasmine, be careful to keep the soil dry. Watering once every 5-7 days is enough. Usually put it in a ventilated place such as the balcony~
Because it is a vine, you need to use wire to secure its direction of growth so it looks even more beautiful as it grows!
After it wraps around the trellis, it blooms nonstop. It is simply a blooming machine.
Huahua has said so much.
