Win-win for Mesona chinensis and solar photovoltaics! Taoyuan young farmer combines with a Yunlin photovoltaic site to contract-cultivate and roast mesona tea

The Council of Agriculture is promoting agricultural-type photovoltaic green energy facilities, combining agriculture with solar power generation. The shading rate of solar panels must not exceed 40%, and crop yields must reach 70% or more. But reduced sunlight inevitably affects crop growth, and how to balance the two has become a difficult problem. The Council of Agriculture's Taoyuan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (hereinafter referred to as "Taoyuan Station") has experimented with growing Mesona chinensis under solar photovoltaic panels, matching solar photovoltaic operators and young farmers to invest in producing high-economic-value roasted mesona tea. Not only does the yield reach 70%, but because field management is simple, operators find it easier to invest.
