I. Nutritional components

It is a Chinese medicinal herb that can be found in Chinese medicine shops, and is generally used to make porridge or soup. When it blooms, it has 5 to 6 light red petals, and the petals can grow to 5 to 8 cm; after dehydration they shrink and wrinkle, taking on an irregular shape, and the calyx holds it up like a small cup, making it especially beautiful. Generally, complete large flowers with a brownish-yellow color are chosen, as these are the best to eat.

II. Ways to eat it

1. Beverage

In daily life, we can drink it as a beverage. First, you need 15 grams of air-dried kapok petals, 10 grams of honeysuckle, and 10 grams of white chrysanthemum. Next, after washing them clean, simply dissolve them in hot water. In summer, it not only relieves heat but can also be drunk as an everyday beverage.

2. Cooking

Of course, besides drinking it, we can also cook with it: one fresh crucian carp, with 30 grams of fresh petals, 50 grams of small mushrooms, 30 grams of tender bamboo shoots, scallions, fresh ginger, yellow wine, salt, pepper, and monosodium glutamate, and a delicious dish is about to be born. Remove the fish's internal organs, wash it, and dry off the excess moisture; wash the petals clean and drain them; slice the mushrooms and bamboo shoot tips; when the oil in the pan is hot, sauté ginger slices and scallion slices until fragrant, then pan-fry the crucian carp until golden brown on both sides. At this point, add water, and along with it put in the sliced mushrooms, bamboo shoot tips, and petals, sprinkle with yellow wine and pepper for seasoning, and cook until done. Finally, season with salt and monosodium glutamate, and it is ready to enjoy right away.

III. Major dietary taboos

As the elders say, eating too much of some things is not necessarily a good thing. Long-term consumption or eating too much at one time can cause symptoms such as bloating and loss of appetite, and people who are allergic to flowers, or pregnant women, should also eat it with caution!
