Reasons and Solutions for Dry, Cracked, and Holes in the Middle of Anthurium Leaves

1. Specific Causes

This condition occurs mainly because the plant has been in a very dark environment for a long time, resulting in a lack of light. Once this condition is discovered, it must be dealt with promptly. The faster the treatment, the less harm is caused. Given the different degrees of severity, there are two treatment methods.

2. Two Different Treatments

(1) Smaller area: If the dry, cracked, and holed area in the middle of the leaf is relatively small, then some medicine can be applied to it, such as gentian violet. This can prevent further rotting. Then, it needs to be placed in a ventilated spot. Before its wound heals, do not sprinkle water on it. Otherwise, not only will it fail to produce results, but more holes will appear.

(2) Larger area: However, if the area of the hole is too large, then the above measures will not work. At this time, in order to prevent them from further infecting the other leaves, the only option is to cut off all these leaves that already have holes. Then, mash garlic into juice, add enough water, and then spray it onto the leaves. This can play a disinfecting role. If the situation is still severe, then carbendazim and the like can be used. However, note that the concentration must not be high.

3. Shared Treatment Measures

As we said above, the cause of this phenomenon is a lack of light. Then, regardless of which of the above two situations it is, sufficient light needs to be provided. If growing it at home, it can be placed on a balcony. In this way, the light will not be too strong, and it can still take effect.
