What are the reasons why Yulan magnolia (Magnolia liliiflora) does not bloom
1. The age of the tree
This means the plant has been grown for too short a time and has not reached blooming age. In this case, there is no way to force it to bloom. You can only care for it carefully; in time, it will bloom.
2. The temperature
This plant itself has relatively high temperature requirements. Therefore, in our country it is mainly distributed in some southern provinces, such as Hubei Province, Sichuan Province and so on. So if it is planted in a more northern place and you want it to bloom, you must ensure the temperature is in a suitable state. If it is potted, moving it indoors is more suitable.
3. Light
Similar to the temperature factor, it also has a relatively high demand for light and is a plant that fairly likes light. So if it is in a semi-shaded environment, it will itself grow very thin and weak, with very few flowers. If it is in a very dark environment, then it will not bloom at all. Therefore, we must be sure to provide it with sufficient light during its blooming period.
4. Pests and diseases
If the plant is troubled by diseases and pests, this will likewise hinder its blooming. For example, "root rot" is one of them. With this disease, the roots will slowly rot, so its own survival will be a problem, let alone blooming. Pests are the same, such as "mole crickets", "cutworms" and so on. These pests harm every part of the plant, making it weaker and weaker, so naturally it cannot produce flowers. Therefore, when we find that it is sick, we must treat it promptly.
