It is spring now, the vigorous growing season for jasmine. Some flower lovers ask why their jasmine buds do not open well, and the buds wither and turn yellow, failing to bloom at all. What is the reason?

Jasmine dropping buds and failing to open comes down to two problems: one is lack of light, and the other is poor roots that cannot absorb enough nutrients

1. Light

Jasmine likes a environment with plenty of light; there is a saying that jasmine cannot be killed by sun, so we should usually give jasmine the best light and let it bask in the sun generously. Lack of light and insufficient ventilation will make jasmine flowers small and thin, cause flower drop, or dry up the buds

2. Watering

During the jasmine growing season, while ensuring light, be sure to water thoroughly and keep the potting soil moist, but do not let water accumulate. The soil must be loose and airy; as long as the soil is loose and airy, even watering more will not easily rot the roots. In summer, jasmine needs watering every day to supply its growth and blooming

3. Fertilizing

When jasmine grows well, it will bloom almost every month, so fertilizing must keep up, because it grows branches and blooms at the same time. Before blooming, use phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to promote flowers and protect buds, so there will be more blooms. After blooming, promptly supplement with a multi-element fertilizer to replenish the nutrients consumed by blooming. Insufficient fertilizer will lead to weak, thin and small plants, fewer flowers, and flower drop

4. Pruning

After jasmine blooms, promptly prune off the spent flowers and cut back the branches. When pruning, keep about two nodes on the branch and cut off all the rest, so side branches will sprout from the leaf axils, more side branches will grow, and the new branches will all bloom. This can make the plant shape attractive and produce abundant flowers

Grow jasmine this way and it will bloom abundantly; if the temperature is suitable, it can bloom, with delicate flowers and an overwhelming fragrance
