How to divide a spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum 'Variegatum')? Learn the correct division method
1. Grow it well
A major factor in making sure it can be divided into two pots is that its original pot must have been grown very well, because if it was not grown well, it will very likely produce only a small number of divisions, and it is even more likely to be too weak to survive. So first we must make sure the plant being divided is already very lush.
2. Take it out
1. First we need to take the original plant out of the pot. The usual way is to turn it upside down, as this will not damage the roots. At this point we will notice that the plant has many stems joined together, so we need to remove some of the soil and pull apart the smaller roots as well, and then begin the actual division.
2. To make it look good, we need to place three or four plants together, and after that they can go into a pot. Ordinary soil will do, and lining the bottom with some peanut or walnut shells is a good method, because this will improve drainage a little.
3. Repot it
After that we need to repot it. Generally we should give it a little water, so that its soil will not dry out, and it will not be too wet and cause problems for the roots. Also, we must not let the repotted plant face direct sunlight; only once it has grown well can it be placed wherever you like. This is a very good plant, and if it grows to a certain stage, everyone can try dividing it.
