All-purpose lacing method
How can you make athletic shoes bloom with style? The editor personally tested a few super easy-to-learn shoelace lacing methods to share with everyone, absolutely letting your ordinary white sneakers take on a different style!
/ Inner crisscross lacing method /
This lacing method is the first one the editor learned, the simplest, but with a little clever trick hidden in the laces, easy to do and convenient to learn.

1. Thread the shoelace through the bottommost No. 1 eyelets on the left and right, then pinch the right lace through the No. 2 eyelet on the same side, then through the No. 3 eyelet on the left. Do the same with the left lace, threading twice to form an interweave.

2. Thread both left and right sides simultaneously through the upper eyelets on the same side, repeating the interwoven lacing method from step 1.

3. Finally, thread the shoelace through the eyelets on the same side, so it's convenient to tie them together.

/ Hidden bar lacing method /
Having seen crisscross lacing plenty of times, this hidden lacing method looks clean and neat.
1. Thread the shoelace through the bottommost No. 1 eyelets on the left and right sides, keeping both sides as equal in length as possible.
Play GIF
2. Thread one side's lace first through the No. 2 eyelet on the same side, then through the No. 2 eyelet on the opposite side. That completes a crisscross-free lacing.
Play GIF
3. Repeat step 2: the lace on the same side first goes up through one eyelet, then runs parallel across to the eyelet on the opposite side.
Play GIF
4. Repeat the weaving until all the eyelets are threaded, and you're done!

/ Double-layer interweaving method /
The laces on both sides interweave with hollow gaps, simply looking incredibly good. For a clumsy editor like me, this really is the simplest lacing method.
Play GIF
1. Take one shoelace, fold it in half, and thread it directly through the No. 1 and No. 2 eyelets on the right side.
Play GIF
2. Then thread both ends of this shoelace in parallel through the No. 1 and No. 2 eyelets on the left side, then upward simultaneously through the No. 3 and No. 4 eyelets.
Play GIF
3. Repeat step 2 until finishing. At the end, the upper shoelace has no opposite-side eyelet to come out of, so just thread it out from the same-side eyelet!

Advanced lacing methods

If you want to refresh your shoelace patterns, here are advanced shoelace lacing methods to share with everyone. The editor thinks this difficulty can probably only be mastered by someone as clever and handy as you!
/ Grid lacing method /
1. After threading shoelaces of equal length on both sides through the bottommost No. 1 eyelets on the left and right, thread the left lace through the No. 4 eyelet on the right. Count carefully! You need to leave two eyelets.
Play GIF
2. Thread the lace from the No. 4 eyelet back through the No. 2 eyelet on the left, completing the first back-and-forth.
Play GIF
3. Thread the lace from the No. 2 eyelet out through the upper eyelet on the right side, completing all 3 layers on one side.
Play GIF
4. Thread the right lace through the No. 4 eyelet on the left. The remaining method is the same as steps 2 and 3, just switching directions. But note, if you want it to look nicer, remember to interweave up and down, so the laces on both sides press tightly together!
Play GIF
5. The key to ensuring three parallel lines is that the lace on the same side first comes out from the same side, then goes through the opposite-side eyelet. That way a beautiful grid appears on your shoes!
Play GIF
/ Advanced interweaving method /
1. Thread the shoelace evenly through the bottommost two eyelets, just like ordinary lacing, but note that you thread through the No. 3 eyelets at the same time, leaving out the No. 2 eyelets.
Play GIF
2. After crossing the laces once, thread them down through the No. 2 eyelets on the same side. The remaining steps are the same as step 1, but no need to leave out eyelets anymore; instead go down one row.
Play GIF
3. Still following the original steps, weave back and forth in a horizontal figure-8. When encountering overlapping lace sections, pass over and under before threading into the eyelet, making the laces look nicer.
Play GIF
4. After repeatedly weaving up and down and crossing according to the steps above, you'll finally get the evolved version of the figure-8 shoelace lacing method.

/ Two-color bar lacing method /
Bar lacing is too monotonous, so why not wear two colors paired together, feeling more unique and cool! Prepare two shoelaces of different colors and give it a try!
Play GIF
1. Thread both shoelaces through the No. 1 eyelets at the same time, then hide the left lace beside the tongue.
Play GIF
2. Take another shoelace of a different color. Follow the threading method of step 1, but hide the right lace inside the tongue.
Play GIF
3. Thread the gray shoelace in parallel through the No. 3 eyelets, keeping it to one side with the red shoelace.
Play GIF
4. Similarly, thread the red shoelace in parallel through the No. 4 eyelets.
Play GIF
5. By repeatedly crossing and weaving like this, you finally complete the two-color shoelace lacing method. Actually it's fairly simple, right!

There's a kind of shoe where no matter how you wear it, you look the same as everyone else. There's a kind of shoelace where you can actually lace it like this! Want to know where a goddess's wealth of clever tricks lies? Then you can't miss these two shoelace lacing methods.
/ Butterfly shoelace lacing method /
A goddess is of course full of girly charm. Wearing a bow on your body is too flashy; better to have a bow on your feet, cleverly giving you a surprise.
Play GIF
1. Thread the shoelace through the eyelets, and tie a simple shoelace cross once.
Play GIF
2. The most important part comes: thread the laces on both sides downward, out through the No. 1 eyelets on the same side, then from the surface into the No. 2 eyelets. That completes one bow.
Play GIF
3. Thread the shoelace from the inner side upward on the same side, then you can start the second bow!
Play GIF
4. After completing three bows, a pair of butterfly shoes is done!

/ Woven lacing method /
A shoelace lacing method that looks very complicated, but after practicing it a couple of times, you can also lace it beautifully. Mainly because this kind of complex pattern really can only be worn by a goddess.
Play GIF
1. Prepare two shoelaces, thread them through the topmost eyelet and the bottommost eyelet on the left. Note that this shoelace should be threaded on the inner side close to the tongue.
Play GIF
2. Following the simplest bar lacing method from before, thread the blue shoelace step by step like this.
Play GIF
3. Pick a shoelace of another color, and thread it up and down through the blue shoelace, just like weaving.
Play GIF
4. Thread the white shoelace on the other side through the blue shoelace in the same way, but keep the up-and-down interweaving direction separate from the shoelace in step 3!
Play GIF
5. Repeat the weaving three or four times like this, and you're done!

Cleaning shoelaces
pinpinlife
”
The thing the editor hates most is cleaning shoelaces, mainly because shoelaces are too hard to wash. Unlike clothes, you simply can't scrub them. So here's a little bonus tip for washing shoelaces for everyone.
1. Prepare the shoelaces to be cleaned, an unused cup, plus a little millet and laundry detergent. Pour cold water into the cup to get ready.
Play GIF
2. Stuff the shoelaces into the bottle, then pour in small stones or rice grains to increase friction, and add laundry detergent or dish soap, either is fine.
Play GIF
3. Tighten the bottle cap, shake the bottle hard, letting the shoelaces and laundry detergent fully contact.
Play GIF
4. Then take them out and gently rub and scrub, and you can get a dirty shoelace clean. Washing shoelaces is no longer a hassle!
