The snake plant is a really great plant. It can purify the air, and placed indoors it can effectively absorb some harmful gases in the air; for example, its absorption of formaldehyde is very effective. The snake plant is very cold-tolerant and prefers loose, nutritious soil, but it also fears waterlogging. The snake plant works very well in a newly renovated house, and it can also protect against radiation. In short, the snake plant has many benefits. So keeping a pot of snake plant at home is a very good idea. So how should the snake plant be grown?

1. Give the snake plant suitable lighting conditions

Although the snake plant is very easy to keep alive, you still cannot leave it in a dark place for a long time. Give it plenty of light by placing it somewhere with indirect light. But in summer, because the sunlight is fairly strong, you should shade it appropriately. If you do not shade it in summer, the snake plant's leaves will be scorched and damaged, while leaving it indoors for a long time will make the snake plant's leaves dull and lose their vitality.

2. Provide the snake plant with loose, nutritious soil

Because the snake plant likes loose, breathable, nutritious soil, when caring for a snake plant you can mix leaf mold and sandy soil and add well-rotted base fertilizer. This not only ensures the soil is loose and breathable so the snake plant will not suffer root rot, but also provides the snake plant with plenty of nutrients so it can grow better.

3. Fertilize the snake plant appropriately in spring and autumn

The snake plant must be given plenty of nutrients while it is growing, and giving it suitable fertilizer lets it grow very well. So when growing a snake plant, apply suitable fertilizer in the two seasons of spring and autumn, so the snake plant has plenty of nutrients during its growing period and problems such as yellow leaves do not appear.

4. The snake plant can be propagated in two ways: division propagation and cutting propagation. If you want the snake plant to grow better, propagating it appropriately is very important. Division propagation is a commonly used method for snake plants. Generally in spring, take some leaves, let them dry, then pot them up for propagation, but sprinkle some loose soil at the roots and use some leaf mold or nutrient soil, so that one pot of snake plant easily becomes several pots.
