Cuttings are a commonly used propagation method for succulents, so how do you make cuttings root quickly? Let's take a look together.

The commonly used rooting method is the sand rooting method, which has the highest survival rate and is safe and reliable.

For leaf cuttings, place the leaves flat on the soil and wait for them to root. Never insert half of a leaf into the soil. The soil should be kept in a relatively moist state, which easily induces succulents to root. Do not use too much water; the moisture level should be such that when you grab the soil with your hand, it does not stick to your hand.

Rooting tips for cuttings:

(1). Soil: Collect sand of uniform coarseness at a construction site, wash it and disinfect and sterilize it, then mix in nutrient soil and add a little vermiculite.

For the soil mix, you can also use coconut coir, peat soil, perlite, etc. The soil medium needs good air permeability, which is good for the breathing of succulent roots.

(2). Flower pot: Choose a flower pot with good air permeability, which is good for the ventilation of succulent roots. The bottom of the pot needs drainage holes, and water should not easily accumulate in the pot, to prevent succulent black rot or root rot.

Place a piece of non-woven fabric at the bottom of the pot to prevent soil from leaking out through the drainage holes and also to prevent roots from growing outside the pot.

(3). Environment: Place the rootless succulent in a relatively dark and humid place to promote the rapid growth of aerial roots.

After aerial roots grow, rest the succulent plant on the mouth of a glass bottle of suitable size, and more roots will soon grow.

(4). Rooting powder: Put the rooting powder used into a bottle filled with water, shake evenly, soak its roots in the rooting powder solution, and rest the succulent plant on the bottle mouth.

Place it in a ventilated place with scattered light, and after 1~2 weeks new roots will grow smoothly.
