In late spring and early summer, this is exactly when gardenias should be blooming in abundance. But my gardenia, I do not know what is going on with it, just stubbornly refuses to bloom. Seeing friends on social media showing off their beautifully blooming gardenias one after another, I was extremely envious. But my gardenia looks quite healthy too, and I have not found any pests or diseases, so why will it just not bloom?

As it happened, last weekend my cousin came to visit. I suddenly remembered, did not my cousin major in landscape architecture for her bachelor's degree? Truly, "you can search far and wide for what you need, only to find it without any effort." I asked my cousin to help me see what was actually wrong with the gardenia. I pulled my cousin into the room and had her take a look at my gardenia.

As soon as my cousin entered the room, she asked me in confusion, why are you keeping the gardenia in the room? I was stunned for a moment. "Do they not say online that gardenias are shade-tolerant? So I kept it in the room." My cousin quickly said, "Online says gardenias are shade-tolerant, but it does not say not to give them sunlight! All plants need photosynthesis. Without sunlight, how do you expect it to grow?"

After saying that, my cousin immediately had me move the gardenias to the balcony so they could get good sun. "It is best to let plants get the morning sun. Now that the weather is hot, the afternoon sun is too harsh and can easily scorch the gardenia."

Before leaving, my cousin also told me a little trick to promote blooming in gardenias. Water the gardenia with a little homemade special water, and the gardenia will bloom very soon. This special water is not very troublesome to make either, and everyone can make it at home themselves!

The materials we need to prepare are: one rusty iron nail, vinegar, and water

First, put the rusty iron nail into a bottle, then add 200ml of water, and soak the rusty nail water until it turns tender green. Then add 100ml of vinegar, mix the two evenly, and the special water is ready!

Every half month, water the gardenia with the "special water" once, until the gardenia's blooming period ends. Each time you use it, take one bottle cap of the "special water" and add 1000ml of tap water to water the gardenia. Pour it along the edge of the pot, and do not splash it on the leaves. In addition, before using tap water, it is best to let it sit overnight first, for a better effect!

If you do not have time to make the "special water" yourself, you can also directly buy the organic nutrient solution specially made for acid-loving plants sold on the market. Its effect on gardenia growth and blooming is also very good!

Still worrying about your gardenia not blooming? Hurry and treat it with the "special water"!
