Pennywort is one of the aquatic plants that is both beautiful and very easy to grow. Below we explain the hydroponic method for growing pennywort and the reasons its leaves turn yellow!

How do you grow pennywort hydroponically?

(1). Water quality: the water should be kept slightly acidic. You do not need to change the water too often, once every 1 week is enough. In summer, mosquitoes will lay eggs in it, and the water quality is easily polluted, so change the water more frequently. Tap water is best left to stand for a few days before use.

(2). Temperature: the suitable temperature is between 16°C and 24°C. Too high or too low will not do; growth will be slow and it will also attract insects.

(3). Fertilizing: generally fertilize once every 2 to 3 weeks, using a dedicated nutrient solution as the fertilizer; water from changing a fish tank can also be used as flower fertilizer.

(4). Light: with insufficient light over a long period, the leaves may turn yellow and wither. It needs a moderate amount of light, generally 4 hours of light per day, which is good for the plant's growth.

(5). Pruning: with proper pruning, growth will be very lush. If it grows too dense, you can take out a portion and transplant it into another pot to grow, so the plant can receive light well.

Why do the leaves of hydroponic pennywort turn yellow?

(1). Water pollution: polluted water easily causes root rot and the leaves turn yellow. Change the water in time, and after it slowly recovers, resume normal water changes.

(2). Lack of nutrients: a lack of nutrients will cause its leaves to turn yellow. While changing the water, add nutrient solution to the water and shake the water gently; the water will then contain more oxygen.

(3). Excess nutrients: with too many nutrients, microorganisms will also grow, and at the same time they will compete with the plant for nutrients. So if you find this happening, change the water in time and clean the container.

(4). Insufficient light: with insufficient light, there may be only yellow leaves. In winter, place it in a spot with plenty of light. In summer, do not expose it to strong sun.
