When Do Chrysanthemums Bloom? A Detailed Guide to Their Flowering Periods

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Most chrysanthemums bloom in September, but due to differences in environment and variety, their blooming times can vary to a greater or lesser degree. Summer chrysanthemums bloom in May and June, autumn chrysanthemums in September, late chrysanthemums from October to November, cold chrysanthemums from December to January, wild chrysanthemums from June to November, sweet chrysanthemums in May, and small red chrysanthemums from July to October. Of course, through artificial regulation of factors such as light, the flowering period can also be changed.

I. Spring Chrysanthemums

As the name suggests, this variety blooms in spring, but because of advances in technology today, people can use artificial induction to extend or change its blooming time, so its blooming days can be altered by temperature and light.

II. Summer Chrysanthemums

This variety has another name, the "five-nine chrysanthemum," and this name is closely tied to its blooming: it blooms twice, once in the fifth month of the lunar calendar and once in the ninth month of the lunar calendar. If we take certain protective measures, we can make it bloom in May and October of the solar calendar.

III. Autumn Chrysanthemums

This variety can be further divided internally, with differences in early and late blooming. The early ones are generally called early chrysanthemums, blooming in mid-to-late September, and belong to the medium-sized chrysanthemums.

IV. Late Chrysanthemums

This variety is relatively large and belongs to the large-sized chrysanthemums. At present, everyone grows this type, and it is also very common, blooming from October to November.

V. Cold Chrysanthemums

This one also has another name, winter chrysanthemum, and from the name you can tell its blooming time: clearly it blooms in winter. Its specific flowering period is from December to January of the following year.

VI. Sweet Chrysanthemums

This is a perennial, not one that withers and dies after a year and no longer grows. Its height is between 30 cm and 1.5 m, it blooms in May, and it withers in November.

VII. Wild Chrysanthemums

This is also a perennial, shorter than sweet chrysanthemums, with a maximum height of 1 m. Its blooming time is from June to November.

VIII. Small Red Chrysanthemums

This variety is even shorter, with a maximum height of only 6 decimeters. Its blooming time is between July and October.
